Hundreds of people lined the perimeter of Kukui Grove Center to welcome the holidays during the 25th Kauai Christmas Parade.
Sponsored by Garden Island Federal Credit Union, Kauai Teachers Federal Credit Union and KGC, the parade featured classic cars decorated in theme of the season, bands from the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School and other community organizations that provided a respite from the hectic Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping.
“It is important that we as a community share in the local holiday traditions by being a part of this parade through participation, attending or volunteering, to continue this holiday event for our future generations,” said Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., who was grand marshal, one of his last official duties as mayor before the inauguration of Mayor-elect Derek Kawakami on Monday, Dec. 3.
