Both Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. and the mayoral candidates, Mel Rapozo and Derek Kawakami, found time in their busy schedules to take in some of the fun and enjoy the local style grinds.
Rep. Nadine Nakamura was busy over the weekend, too, joining with some of the parishioners of the All Saints Episcopal Church and Preschool in congratulating the four honorees at the 10th Awards presentation at Na Wahine Alaka‘i O Kauai, presented by the YWCA of Kauai, Friday, and then making The Holy Eucharist with Holy Baptism (kudos to Alessamdra Kahula Grace Newman, and Kylan Teruo Wakuta!) Feast to Mark the Occasion of All Saints Day ending of a Pastoral Relationship with Rev. Ryan Newman who will be leaving to assume a post in the Fresno, California area.
OK, time to go check out the Poipu Food and Wine Festival where Chef Orly Yadao (kudos on winning the Food Network’s Halloween Wars!) is one of the judges for the Market to Menu “Chopped” competition between Chef Esteban Alicea of Merriman’s and Chef Fetulele Taala of the Dolphin Restaurant. That starts at 4 p.m. at The Kauai Culinary Market.
