Chef Judy Capertina of Haole Girl Island Sweets (yes, she was part of the inaugural Thursday Afternoon Street Market at Kukui Grove Cetner, too!) had coconut macaroons on hand for the Halloween edition of the Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula Wednesday, where little trick-or-treaters were seen (Helaine Perel said they were doing the Teal Pumpkin Project, too!), and Stacie Chiba-Miguel allowed a sneak peek at the non-candy treats in store for people who can’t have candy.

Butterflies and unicorns…yep, they were there as Florence Toyofuku (she’s in preschool, now so it’s not “Florrie”) of Lanipo Farms was definitely ready as was Altetha Thomas’ daughter of Monkeypod Jam (don’t worry, Small Business Saturday is coming up soon enough!).
Chef Ku‘ulei Breen and Holly Kaiakapu said, “Stitch, Lilo, Hanapepe? Yep. It all goes together” although visitors had to think before it all connected.
Stacie is getting excited about the 2018 Poipu Food &Wine Festival that kicks off Wednesday with a free event (with beer and wine for purchase) at the Kauai Culinary Market The Shops at Kukuiula, when Chef Celeste Rogers of the Food Network’s “Chopped” show takes the microphone to emcee the mystery ingredient competition between Chef Esteban Alicea of Merriman’s Fish House and Chef Fetulele Taala of the Dolphin. They will create dishes utilizing rancher’s daughter reserve beef, assorted fresh produce (from the farmers, too) and a “mystery ingredient.”
In the meantime, it’s time to check out the Veterans Day Parade in Kapaa … go early, roads close at 9 a.m.!
