Troops can use ‘extra’ candy

KALAHEO — Kalaheo Dental Group wants to make sure keiki take extra care of their teeth this Halloween.

So, for the third year, trick-or-treaters can bring their unopened candy to the Kalaheo Dental Group at the Rainbow Plaza in Kalaheo where the group will “buy back” candy at the rate of $1 per pound, up to a maximum of five pounds.

The buy-back will take place on Thursday 1 from 2 to 5 p.m.

The “purchased” candy will be sent to Armed Forces personnel via Operation Gratitude, which has shipped more than 1.6 million care packages to active military people since the program started in 2003.

Keiki can also support the troops by donating extra candy.

There will be a prize drawing for a $100 Kauai Under Ground Artists gift certificate.
