Florence Yukie Mikasa Iwasaki
Florence Yukie Mikasa Iwasaki of Lihue passed away on May 1, 2018, in Nevada.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1919, on Kauai.
She worked at Hanamaulu Cafe, Coco Palms and as a tour guide simultaneously to send her daughters to the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
She was preceded in death by parents Haruyo Matsuyama Mikasa and Naojiro Mikasa, brother Kazuo Mikasa, and sisters Fusae Mikasa Masaki and Mitsue Mikasa Ibara.
She is survived by daughters Jeanne (Kenneth) Thoennes of California and Pearl (Douglas) Nagoshi of Nevada, sister Barbara (Tommy) Nakao of California, brothers Naotoshi (Lucille) Mikasa of Lihue, John Haruo (Mary) Mikasa of Honolulu, George Motomi (Kayoko) Mikasa of Lihue and Henry Yoshito (Faye) Mikasa of Honolulu, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private services were held Oct. 20 at Lihue Christian Church.
Donald Kawamoto
Donald Kawamoto passed away on Oct. 10, 2018, in Las Vegas at the age of 76.
Born on Sept. 1, 1942, he was a retired communications technician and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by son Marvin Kawamoto and parents Masao and Fusayo Kawamoto.
He is survived by adopted daughter Margaret Kawamoto and three grandchildren in Arizona, brother Charles Kawamoto of Kapaa, sisters Joyce Kawamoto of California and Grace Bradford of Las Vegas, and niece Allison Bradford of California.
Private services will be at Kauai Veterans Cemetery for family and relatives.
Faith Kawehi Holokahi-Nizo
Faith Kawehi Holokahi-Nizo, 58, of Kekaha, passed away on Oct. 17, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 29, 1960 in Honolulu, she was a domestic engineer.
She was preceded in death by father Francis N. Holokahi Sr.
She is survived by husband William “Willie” Apela Nizo Sr. of Kekaha, son William Keolamau “Mau” (Amanda) Nizo Jr. of Kekaha, daughter Liana Keikilani Nizo of Kekaha, hanai daughter Kahelelani Cruz of Honolulu, grandchildren Keikui’iokalani Nizo of Kekaha Ku‘uleinaniokamana‘o‘i‘oamekeolamauloa Nizo of Kekaha, great-grandchild Kailoa Kahale Cruz of Honolulu, mother Janice K. Holokahi of Makaha, Oahu, brothers Francis N. (Noe) Holokahi Jr. of Makaha, Oahu and Fabray “Kaniela” Holokahi of Makaha, Oahu, sisters Francine Kuuipo Holokahi of Makaha, Oahu and Fortunette Keikilani (Carlos) Holokahi of Spain, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Lihue First Church behind King Auto Center at 4320 Nawiliwili Road from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with a celebration of life to follow.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that wreaths be omitted.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
