HONOLULU — A Big Island man convicted of recording sexually explicit images of a 15-year-old girl and her 2-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 24 years in prison.
Hawaii News Now reports 46-year-old Michael Patrakis was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Hawaii after pleading guilty in March to two counts of sexually exploiting a minor.
According to court documents, the teen rented a room from Patrakis in Kailua-Kona. Authorities say he engaged in a sexual relationship with her and produced depictions of the sexual activities.
Federal prosecutors say Patrakis also took photos of the toddler with “lascivious exhibitions of her genitals” while watching the child when the teen was at work.
U.S. District Judge Leslie Kobayashi said at sentencing that Patrakis’ actions caused “incalculable harm.”
