HILO, Hawaii — A restaurant operating at a hotel in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has resumed kitchen service after shutting down when the park closed in May.
Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports Volcano House Hotel relaunched its dinner service at The Rim restaurant Thursday after months of closure due to the Kilauea volcano eruption and resulting seismic activity at the Big Island park.
Parts of the hotel resumed operation when the national park reopened late last month, but kitchen services could not restart immediately.
Beginning Friday, the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner during usual hours.
The hotel opened accommodations to guests earlier this month. It expects to reopen Namakanipaio Campground in early December.
The park reopened Kulanaokuaiki Campground and part of Hilina Pali Road last week.
