Kudos to Leona Sa-McDermott (she was busy with both the Special Olympics bowling tournament, and the Hammers and Ale fundraiser for the Kauai Habitat for Humanity!) and Lisa Aki on spearheading the Special Olympics bowling tournament that combined with the Molokai Sweetbread (Mokihana Aquatics is taking orders for its Kanimitsu Bakery bread from Molokai, too!) fundraiser Saturday!

The Mokihana fundraiser is Dec. 1 and the Molokai bread is available in strawberry, blueberry, or plain. Call Coach Orlando for details.
Kudos to the Lions Clubs for their help at the Special Olympics tournament (and Hawaii Gas) where Kim Melchor said Team Kalaheo was participating for the very first time with its athletes.
The Lions were out in force Monday for the White Cane Day walk (kudos to Doug Moises on another great walk!), and will be doing Vision Van for Pack 148 during the Pack’s meeting on Oct. 24. It was a good thing the weather was cool and misty because there was a late Hawaiian caper still in bloom (it normally blooms at night) in from of the Kauai Museum where Uli‘i Castor can tell you the Hawaiian name for the plant in the Moku Gardens.
OK, off to check out the Island School students doing a field trip to the Kauai Society of Artists gallery to view the Art Kauai exhibit which closes Oct. 27 at the Kukui Grove Center.
