Forecasters warned that dangerous flash floods or mudslides remained a threat in some coastal areas, but discontinued tropical storm warnings.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Tara had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph) Tuesday afternoon. It was centered about 45 miles (75 kilometers) west of Manzanillo, while moving northwest at 2 mph (4 kph).
Rains of 3 to 6 inches (7 to 15 centimeters) were possible in parts of Colima, western Jalisco and western Michoacan states.
