The County of Kauai Planning Department was recognized last week for professional excellence in planning by two professional societies regarding its work with the Kauai General Plan Update (2018) and the South Kauai Community Plan (2015).
The County of Kauai Planning Department was recognized last week for professional excellence in planning by two professional societies regarding its work with the Kauai General Plan Update (2018) and the South Kauai Community Plan (2015).
“These awards confirm our county is at the forefront of the planning profession and recognizes the quality of the work that is setting the course for the next generations on Kauai,” said Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho Jr. “I am proud of the excellence and professionalism of our Planning Department team, and commend them for a job well done.”
On Thursday, Oct. 4, the Kauai General Plan Update (2018) was recognized as the Outstanding Planning Award for the year by the American Planning Association Hawaii Chapter. This award recognizes the top planning project, process, or program completed in the state over the past year that exemplifies excellence in planning.
On Friday, Oct. 5, the South Kauai Community Plan (2015) was recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Hawaii Chapter for excellence in Analysis and Planning.
The 2018 ASLA Design Awards recognize professional and academic excellence by honoring the firms, individuals, and agencies responsible for outstanding works of landscape architecture and environmental planning that promote an enhanced quality of life in Hawaii and beyond. Awards are only given by ASLA every three years.
