LIHUE — The Elections Division of the Office of the County Clerk reminds the public that the last day to register to vote in the 2018 General Election is Tuesday.
Those eligible to vote must be U.S. citizens, Hawaii residents and at least 18 years old.
The Elections Division is also offering drive-through voter registration services between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday in the parking area immediately behind the Historic County Building. Signs will be posted on Umi Street and Eiwa Street with directions.
The Elections Division said it has received reports from two states (not Hawaii) that their residents are receiving phone calls from individuals impersonating an organization that provides voter registration assistance. Callers are asking recipients if they want to register to vote or request an absentee ballot over the phone.
The public is advised that the voter registration and the absentee ballot application process cannot be completed over the phone, so anyone receiving this type of call should hang up and report the incident to the Elections Division.
