Wow! Kudos to all those who are observing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month (the Kauai Interscholastic Federation volleyball officials all have pink whistles and lanyards; Kapaa and Waimea high school girls are in pink warmups, and there is still more to find). Edie Ignacio Neumiller got the county Department of Water to do pink, and Alden Alayvilla said the Historic County Building is lit up in pink (so is that shopping stop in Kapaa across Otsuka’s) for October.

OK, so much for cancer…we have the Kauai version of Barktoberfest coming to the Flavors of Kukuiula (Stacie Chiba Miguel said Halloween ties in with The Kauai Culinary Market, too!) to benefit the Kauai Animal Welfare Society. This should be a lot of fun, and there are a bunch of good-looking event items, too!
In the meantime, there is still time to check out the kupuna and their goodies at the Kauai Senior Food and Craft Fair at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue Saturday.
