Dr. Terry Allen deserves apology
Dr. Terry Allen deserves apology
I agree with Mike Curtis’ letter regarding Dr. Terry Allen and the TGI’s poor and most misinformed story ever written (Sept. 22). You people need to get your information correct and accurate before you publish, excuse me, bullish! I have been seeing Dr. Allen since he was in Kalaheo and was happy when he returned to Kauai.
There has never been any wrong-doing on this man’s part, he is an upstanding citizen of Kauai. TGI, you got the proof, bring it, otherwise, I believe an apology is needed right away, and make it front-line news, you folks made a grave and serious mistake.
Your story was one-sided.

Trump taxing families
I was looking into Kauai’s affordable housing problem that has been discussed recently in The Garden Island.
I was using this website to calculate taxes: bit.ly/2IptOSr
Imagine my surprise to discover that under Trump’s tax cut plan, a family of four making $60,000 will have to pay just over $200 more in taxes under Trump’s plan then they did in 2018. A family of four making $30,000 will have to pay about $500 more. (The more kids you have, the more your taxes will increase in 2018 over what you paid in 2017).
Not to worry though. If that family makes $100,000 their tax burden will drop by about $1,000.
If you go to this web site make sure you use the “Advance” option so you can change the number of exemptions.
