Kudos to the Kauai High School homecoming committtee on hosting the first-ever (can’t remember one in the past 70 years, at least) homecoming parade Thursday at Kukui Grove Center.

Congratulations to Kiana Manera (no wonder Carol Manera Texeira drove all the way out to Waimea even if she had a Kauai Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Thursday in Kilauea), who was named Kauai High Homecoming Queen Wednesday to accommodate the parade. Brandon Marcos (wasn’t he a reccent Athlete of the Week, too?) was named the Homecoming King, and both royalty were busy working Wednesday following the announcements.
Stacie Chiba-Miguel had to run away early (missed out on the potato corn chowder from The Soup Lady) from The Shops at Kukuiula, which was a pleasant stop on a tour to the Westside (mahalo, Gail Shigematsu of Kauai Kookie kitchens in Kalaheo for the snack pick-me-up ahead of the Kauai Intersholastic Federation volleyball game in Waimea!). Luke Hunadi, a former keiki kane winner from the Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula competition, was checking out the offerings too.
OK, it’s off to the football game, and the food-collection day hosted by the Kauai Independent Food Bank with support from Kukui Grove Center, and Walmart where the East Kauai Lions Club will be doing fishnet duty.
