WAILUA — Kauai’s first educational cannabis conference is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Wailua.
The KauaiCann Conference & Expo is “for people who think they know about cannabis, for people who do not know, and for people who want to know more,” according to organizer Dale Rosenfeld. County Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar will deliver a video message on marijuana crimes and the opioid epidemic.
Cost for the conference is $10 per person in advance and $15 at the door.
This was a great event and there was a lot of information available whether you were already pretty up on cannabis, or you didn’t know much at all. The older folks there seemed really interested in Dr. Baiko’s presentation on how cannabis works on the body and I thought it was interesting too. Other attendees like Ivy Lou of Certicann.com had interesting comments to make and I really enjoyed talking with her about edibles and how they effect patients differently than smokable cannabis because the liver breaks it down into another substance. We need more events like this on the neighbor islands!
