Congratulations to Roberta Griffith (she’s heading to the Far East pretty soon) on getting one of the awards (she said she was so surprised, she was crying) at the Art Kauai exhibit that opened at the Kauai Society of Artists gallery at the Kukui Grove Center.

The gallery is adjacent to the space being used for the Hawaii Nikkei Legacy exhibit where James Yamamoto (kudos to his grandson Kade Kikuchi for winning his Boys 11-12 Flight, Sunday at the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association Oahu Junior Classic at the Turtle Bay-Fazio on Oahu!) was helping with docent duty.
Kade also won his flight at the Kauai Junior Classic, last week at the Hokuala Golf Club Ocean Course. This time, he beat the second place finisher by 10 strokes, the same as his performance at Hokuala.
Congratulations, too, to Grant James and the ‘ohana (Maile Lewis said they got Spaghetti in the Pumpkin Patch coming up for Halloween … hm-m-m, yummy … leave some room for spaghetti while trick-or-treating) on the completion of Kawelo’s Hale on the front lawn of the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort Leimakua by the Aha Kane group!
OK, time to “be healthwise” and check out the county’s Committee on the Status of Women (they’ve got the annual Breast Cancer Walk coming up, Oct. 3) and the County’s Health and Wellness Fair highlighting Women’s Health Month. It’s at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., today!
