Hawaii kamaaina and visitors are invited to mingle and savor an evening under the stars at the ninth annual Westin Princeville Jazz and Wine Festival on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the resort’s main lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean high above Anini Beach. Attendees will enjoy an array of wine, island-inspired cuisine and lively jazz music headlined by the Leonard Patton Quartet.
The proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Kauai Lifeguard Association.
Set against a backdrop of Kauai’s North Shore, the festival offers a wide range of dishes from the island’s premier chefs, including the resort’s Nanea Restaurant &Bar and Wailele Bar, RumFire Poipu Beach at Sheraton Kauai Resort, St. Regis Princeville, Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club, Hukilau Lanai, and more.
More than 30 wines from a variety of vineyards will be available for food pairing. The night’s entertainment will include Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning percussionist Lopaka Colon, saxophonist Tripp Sprague and guests and the Leonard Patton Quartet’s feature performance.
The Leonard Patton Quartet is comprised of vocalist Leonard Patton, guitarist Louis Valenzuela, bassist Mackenzie Leighton and drummer Julien Cantelm. The San Diego-based musicians will entertain the crowd with their original, contemporary arrangements of Brazilian and jazz standards. In 2017, the Leonard Patton Quartet broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the most live musical performances in a 24-hour period after performing 70 mini-concerts.
Throughout the evening, a silent auction will offer bidders hotel stays, airfare, activities, dining certificates and more, all benefitting KLA. As a nonprofit organization, KLA aims to maximize ocean safety in and around Kauai waters through education, training and maintaining high standards of professional and open-water lifesaving practices and techniques.
The resort has raised more than $150,000 for KLA through past jazz and wine events as a part of its ongoing commitment to giving back to the Kauai community.
Tickets are $110 per person and include entertainment, an etched festival wine glass, food, wine, nonalcoholic beverages, tax and gratuity.
