The Hawaii State Teachers Association members (James Yamamoto was recording the HSTA volunteer crews) were out in force with the Kauai Special Olympics athletes in soliciting donations for the program that serves people with intellectual disabilities through sports.
Clarence Sales of the Kauai Lynx said the weather created cancellations from off-island teams planning to participate in the Labor Day weekend basketball tournament. Instead, he will host a goodwill tournament Saturday and Sunday at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center to prepare teams for the Veterans Day Invitational tournament.
The weather continued to mess with schedules as Kauai High School athletic director Keli‘i Morgado joined parents at the Kauai Interscholastic Federation air riflery match at Island School (wasn’t it supposed to be at Kapaa?), but had to leave to tend to the girls volleyball game taking place at Kauai High School.
OK, have a safe weekend — it’s Kauai Marathon Sunday so watch for traffic advisories.
