KEKAHA – After a four-hour standoff, two people were found dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Kekaha on Wednesday afternoon.

A 53-year-old man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while the second victim, a 50-year-old female, died of an apparent gunshot wound.
Police responded to a call on Elapaio Road from a man who threatened to inflict harm to himself around 2 p.m.
Officers arrived soon after on scene and attempted to make contact with the individual at his home. No response was made after multiple attempts of contact.
After establishing a perimeter, KPD’s Special Services Team and Crisis Negotiators arrived at approximately 4 p.m.
After multiple failed attempts at contact, police entered at approximately 6:15 p.m. and found the pair dead.
An investigation is ongoing. An autopsy is pending.
ADVISORY: Police are currently responding to an incident on Elepaio Road, in Kekaha.
A man has apparently barricaded himself at his home. Officers on scene have established a perimeter. KPD’s Special Services Team and crisis negotiators are enroute to the scene now. The public is advised to avoid the area until further notice as a safety precaution. Updates will be announced.
