HONOLULU — Police say a Kailua-Kona woman has been arrested after she tried to take a child from a Big Island classroom.
KHON-TV reports police were called to Kealakehe Elementary School in Kailua-Kona after the woman showed up while school was in session Monday morning.
Police say the 42-year-old woman tried to physically remove the child, but a staff member intervened and prevented her efforts.
Police say the woman did not have authorization to pick up the child.
The woman was arrested and later charged with first-degree custodial interference. Her bail was set at $10,000.
