WAINIHA – The Department of Water has issued an immediate water conservation notice for all Wainiha customers until further notice, in order to avoid a full water outage in the system.
Customers may currently be experiencing low water pressure or no water service due to possible weather impacts to the Wainiha system. DOW crews are unable to access the area at this time due to the Kuhio Highway closures.
Customers are asked to limit water use to essential uses only; such as drinking, cooking and sanitation purposes.
This is no excuse, but a result of county incompetence infested with unqualified “engineers” and employees hired for political brown nosing not merit. They should have learned from pass disruptions like Hurricane Iwa and Iniki when National Guard provided mobile generators to keep their water pumps operating.
I was on a crew that delivered and maintained a few of those generators one of which was located in the Koloa area. They knew Hurricane Lane was approaching and had amble time to prepare but didn’t. The fault lies with the mayor and all his cronies. In failing their duties to the people of Kauai, they should dock their pay, forfeit their pensions and get fired.
