Thank heaven the storm was downgraded to a tropical storm and, finally, at 11 a.m. Saturday the storm watch was canceled for Kauai (although we still had the flash flood watch).
Bridgette and Rayven Orsatelli were among the shoppers picking their way among the raindrops at Kukui Grove Center, and Krystl Apeles (that photovoltaic-powered Jetstream really fit in at the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair) said she was among the crowd that was checking out the storm surge surf at the Ammonia’s break.
OK, now that the storm is past (it didn’t leave the island chain until later Saturday night), it’s time to get ready for Kauai Interscholastic Federation girls volleyball that starts Wednesday night, Waimea coming to visit Kauai High and the Island School Voyagers traveling to the Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapaa. Before that, there is KIF air riflery’s first match of the season as Kauai hosts Waimea, and the Voyagers going over to the Kapaa range.
And which football game is going to be played Friday night?
