Hope everyone is keeping on top of the weather with Lane not knowing what it’s going to do … who was in the Monday night shopping rush?

Kudos to Josie Pablo, Elsie Bayot, and Carla Dusenberry on putting on the bon dance for the 20 residents of the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (this was the truly last bon dance of this year). Josie said they had a hard time getting lights (they were all at the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair), and Carla said they didn’t have enough time to build a yagura – just went to the Cassel Farm and plucked a bamboo and put chochin (paper lanterns?) on it. But, it was still good enough (the food was great!) to have the residents have a great time — Roy Miyashiro said everyone was really happy — especially, Yoshiko Sakai whom Carla said was the matriarch of the Kauai Soto Zen bon dances.
Congratulations to Johnny Gordines (is he sleeping in, yet?) and the gigantic Kauai County Farm Bureau ‘ohana on another big farm fair run! Seems like everyone had a lot of fun, and mahalo to Carol Manera Texeira (er, Sunday was Santos Day!) of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce (remember when the fair was one of the first things Mark Perriello visited when he took office?) for volunteering, and where was Anna Baudouin – she missed seeing that new Sony a7III camera.
OK, button up and get ready for Lane!
