Kapaa (1-1) won in a rout, 37-0.
Warriors quarterback Kahanu Davis had 203 passing yards and one touchdown. He also scored on the ground on a 55-yard run to the end zone.
Kapaa scored 21 points in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 24-0 lead.
Warriors rusher Baba Nao totaled 141 rushing yards on 16 carries, including a 67-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Konawaena quarterback Sheynen Nahale was 10-22 for 131 passing yards and one interception before exiting with an injury in the third quarter. Incoming Wildcats quarterback Jamison Medeiros was 4-14 for 50 yards.
Wildcats running back Orion Smith led the team in rushing with 35 yards on nine carries.
The Warriors will open their Kauai Interscholastic Federation season Aug. 31 against Kauai High School at Vidinha Stadium. The junior varsity game will begin 5 p.m. and the varsity will follow.
Kapaa High School’s varsity football head coach Philip Rapozo couldn’t be reached for comment Sunday.
