Julia Makepa is going to be participating for the last time at the Keoki’s Paradise Ukes in Paradise because she ages out this year at the Koloa Plantation Days (everything starts Friday!). Julia was playing during the opening reception for Joshua Huntoon’s one-man debut art show (there was a lot of interest in his lava and fish hook renditions) that was part of the Back to School Bash (great job, BTS Committee!) at Kukui Grove Center.

Congratulations to Royden and Carmela Pablo and their ohana who celebrated the opening of Pau Hana Ts as part of the Back to School excitement, getting help from Kaia Shine and Katie Mae of Soul Fire Productions (those ladies will be towering at the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair during the Admission Day weekend in August too!). Kudos to Lytron Shinno (Judy Cano said mom Stephanie Shinno of Garden Island Federal Credit Union hasn’t had a vacation in five years!) on being the grand-prize winner of the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club staycation.
Kudos, too, to Jolene Spence, Michael Oishi and the Garden Island Trollers on a great wahine fishing tournament! That was a nice stopping point before heading to the flood relief fundraiser put on by Ilima Rivera in Kealia where Greg Askew and Candace Boxer of Ono Pops were wrapping up a busy schedule (Greg was in the Princeville rain craft fair, and Candace held down the fort at the Kauai Community Market).
