Catherine ‘Potot’ Fernandez
Catherine “Potot” Fernandez, 88, of Koloa, passed away at home on June 30, 2018. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on Nov. 6, 1929, and was previously employed as a cook with Poipu Inn.
Preceded in death by her husband, Cereal Fernandez; parents, Angelo Bacarro, Okimi Fujii; step-father, Alberto Daguay; brothers, James Bacarro Sr., Alfred Bacarro; grandson, Aaron Michioka; daughter-in-law, Dolores Fernandez.
Catherine is survived by sons, Edward “Eddie Boy” (Sheila) Fernandez of Mililani, Bernal Fernandez of Lawai; daughters, Sherleen “Tita” Fernandez of Koloa, Suzette “Baba” (Greg) Kenney of Kekaha, Zaneeta (Bill) Quinn of Mililani; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Bonilla of Puhi; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at St. Raphael Church with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Hiram Kane, Jr.
Hiram Kane, Jr. 63 years old, of Koloa, Kauai, passed away on May 31, 2018, at Straub Medical Center. Born on Sept. 5, 1954 in Lihue, Kauai.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ortiz Kane of Koloa; sons, Kamaka Kane of NC, Kaiu Kani of VA, Alfred Li Bunao of Koloa; daughters, Denise (Miguel) Graham of Lawai, Tammy (Sean) Smith of Maui; sisters, Mary (Dennis) Takemoto of Hanapepe, Gwen Calleon of Oahu and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A paddle out at PK’S/ by Beach House will be on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 2 p.m. paina to follow at the family home in Koloa at 5666 Wailaau Road. Casual attire suggested.

Caroline Barretto
Caroline Barretto, 73 years old, of Hauaala, Kauai, passed away on July 1, 2018, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on July 27, 1944, in Koloa, Kauai.
She is preceded in death by her 3 children; Clyde DeCosta, Shirley and Leroy Barretto; parents, Albert and Beatrice Almeida.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Barretto, Sr.; sons, John F. (Amanda) Barretto, Jr., Willis (Harriet) Kauakahi; sisters, Alberta Paris, Lorraine Kakalia; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 6, 2018, at St. Catherines Church, in Kapaa, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery. Casual attire suggested.

Cary Takashi Taogoshi
Cary Takashi Taogoshi, 65, of Waikele, passed away on June 25, 2018, after a short illness. He was the proprietor of the Hair Company in Waipahu.
He is survived by his significant other, Prescilla “Percy” Calimpong; her sons, John Pavo, Eric Pavo and Shannon of Oahu; brothers, Roy (Lynne) Taogoshi of Wailua and Alan (Susan) Taogoshi of Kapaa; sister-in-law, Liliane Yoshi of Oahu, Dorothy Yoshii of Oahu and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sadamu and Kazue Taogoshi; brothers, Albert “Shige” Yoshii and Gary Taogoshi.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel in Honolulu with visitation from 9 a.m. and services to follow at 10 a.m.
