KAPAA — The Kawaihau Community Little League Majors 2018 All Stars will leave Thursday to participate in the Hawaii Little League District 1 tournament that starts July 6 and continues through July 10 at the He‘eia Park on Oahu.
“Kawaihau will play its opening game, Friday at 4 p.m. against Kainalu,” said assistant coach Kennison Nagahisa. “If we can get past that, we have a bye until Sunday. If we can get past the Sunday game, we have a bye until the Tuesday finals. Right now, that’s the plan.”
Nagahisa said if the Kawaihau Majors All Stars can take the District, the team will be playing on Oahu at the same time the Minors All Stars Gold, victorious in their District bid, June 23, will be participating in the Minors State Tournament.
Tyrus Ka‘auwai is the head coach for the Majors with Nagahisa, Marlon Ibaan and Dathan Yim as assistant coaches.
Team members include Blake Braun, Makoa Chong, Jacob Danley, Xailer Duarte, Reyson Goias-Abrigo, Talan Goias-Arzadon, Qyrin Ibaan, Kaomea Inouye, Kahiapo Kuhaulua-Leong, Kaheleiki Pa, Kelsen Rapozo, Brayden Toguchi, Shayden Yamaguchi, and Rylan Yamaguchi.
