Richard Medeiros
Richard Medeiros, 88, passed away on March 1, 2018.
He was born on Sept. 20, 1929, in Eleele, one of 12 children, including siblings Gabriel, Helen, Janie, Tony, Margaret, Paul, Alfred, Robert, Madeline, Mary Anne and Mary Jane, born to Gabriel and Emily Medeiros. He was the last of his siblings to remain.
He was a Korean War veteran serving our country from 1949 to 1952 as part of the 5th Regimental Combat Team out of Schoffield Barracks. He married Marylene (Slim) from Kaumakani, then moved and made his career on the Mainland as an iron worker.
Beloved husband, father of six, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was preceded in death by his daughter Debora Ann. He is survived by his wife Marylene, children Richard, Robert, Elizabeth, Kathleen and James, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life and veteran’s dedication will take place at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe on Wednesday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m.
The family requests aloha attire and that no contributions be offered.
Pablito ‘Lino’ T. Arellano
Pablito “Lino” T. Arellano, 73, of Koloa, passed away on May 16, 2018, at Straub Medical Center. Born on July 19, 1944, in the Philippines, he was retired from the state Department of Transportation Airports Division.
He was preceded in death by father, Fernando Arellano, and brothers, Adriano, Romeo and Esteban Arellano.
He is survived by wife, Remedios Agustin Arellano of Koloa; daughters, Eden (Gavin) Raquel of Wailua and Joycelyn (Regie Ragasa) Arellano of Kapaa; son, Paul A. Arellano of Puhi; five grandchildren; mother, Filomena Arellano of the Philippines; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Borthwick Mortuary chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 p.m., and again on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa, from 8 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Lloyd ‘Porky’ Silva
Lloyd “Porky” Silva, 62, of Kekaha, passed away on May 16, 2018, at his home. Born on Oct. 18, 1955, in Lihue, he was a cane carrier with Kekaha Sugar Co.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Mildred Silva; and sister, Geraldine Silva.
He is survived by brother, Ernest (Brenda) Silva Jr. of Kekaha; sisters, Rosalie (Moki) Nitta of Kekaha and Jasmine Silva of Waipahu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Waimea Neighborhood Center from 9 to 10:15 a.m., where prayer services will be at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests casual attire.

Peter ‘P.K.’ Kawanana Kali Jr.
A much-loved individual, Master Sgt. Peter “P.K.” Kawanana Kali Jr., 47, of Aiea, Hawaii, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 13, 2018, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born on Jan. 3, 1971, in Waimea, and was an aircraft loadmaster instructor with the Hawaii Air National Guard.
He is survived by mother. Alberta Jardin Kali; sister, Clarice Kaleolani Kali; nephew, Kalen Kamalanikaumaka Kakutani, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Albert and Christina Kali; maternal grandparents, Albert and Clara Jardin; and father, Peter Kawanana Kali Sr.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation with family will begin at 9 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. The family welcomes lei.
Scattering of ashes will be held privately at a later date.
Christino Agotip Navarro
Christino Agotip Navarro, 90, of Lihue, passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on May 29, 2018. He was born in Lihue on April 15, 1928, and retired from Lihue Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by wife, Pikake Navarro.
He is survived by son, Ivan Navarro; daughters, Christie Glendon, Sandy (Kurt) Oshiro and Renee (Robert) Navarro; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Hukilau Lanai restaurant at the Kauai Coast Resort, 520 Aleka Loop, Waipouli, with visitation from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Lihue Cemetery.

Mary Ann Requilman
Mary Ann Requilman, passed away at the age of 71, on June 10, 2018, at her home. She was born in Iowa on Oct. 30, 1947. She was the retired executive director of the Kauai Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by parents, George and Lenore (Smith) Geary and brother, Mike Geary.
She is survived by husband, Robert Requilman; son, Michael Requilman; older brother, Pat Geary of New Jersey, and younger sisters, Julie Blaskovich of Washington and Betsy Proctor of Texas.
She and husband Robert moved from Seattle to Oahu’s Westside in 1972. After watching the movie “Blue Hawaii” many times, she was determined to move to Kauai, which she, Bob and son Michael did in 1988. She began working at the Kauai Historical Society that was located at the Coco Palms then, and she continued as administrative assistant, then executive director. She supervised the society’s collections, events and publications as well as its expansion into the Historic County Building until her retirement. She obtained grant funding that supported staff for cataloging, video production, books and public lectures.
Her family hopes that those who knew her will remember her as a great wife, loving mother, sister, auntie and friend. Former staff, volunteers and members of the Kauai Historical Society will recall the enjoyable pa‘ina, field trips and lectures that she arranged.
Victor Allasot Bigno Sr.
Victor Allasot Bigno Sr., 92, of Lihue, passed away on June 12, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center. Born on July 21, 1925, in Makaweli, he was a retired painter who also served in and retired from the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donesio and Columba Bigno.
He is survived by wife Josephine Sadan Bigno of Lihue; sons Jonathan (Laura) Bigno of Puna and Victor (Violet) Bigno of Lihue; daughter Myrna (Paul) Muto of Seattle; grandchildren Matthew (Rebecca), Adam (Nicole), Gina (Jonathan), Marie (Alex), Jackie (Debra), Cora (Debra), Keoni (Laora), Kirstie (Kekoa), Sichel (Jason), Tawnie (Alisah) and Mayuri (Bettie); 21 great-
grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister Nina Tacay of Lihue; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai from 3 to 3:45 p.m., where services will be held at 4 p.m. Inurnment will be on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire.
