A Wildwood, N.J., cop pummeled a young woman in front of her baby daughter after she cursed at him and told him she couldn’t breathe, newly revealed bodycam footage of the violent Jersey Shore arrest reveals.
“They’re choking me. I can’t breathe, you f——— d—-head,” Philadelphia resident Emily Weinman screams as three officers hold her down.
“That’s it,” one of the officers yells before punching Weinman at least two times in the head — an incident that was caught on a video that went viral.
The Wildwood beach beat down broke out after Weinman, 20, was spotted holding a beer, according to police. The Saturday violence has caused widespread outrage, with some viewers characterizing it as another case of police brutality.
The Wildwood Police Department on Wednesday identified the three officers involved in the brutal beating as Thomas Cannon, John Hillman and Robert Jordan. It’s not clear whom of the three punched Weinman.
Police released three bodycam recordings that showed Weinman screaming, spitting and cursing at the cops, and telling them to get off her.
But neither of the videos shows Weinman kicking an officer in the groin, which Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano previously claimed she did.
Troiano did not immediately return a request for comment from the New York Daily News.
Police Chief Robert Regalbuto said part of the incident wasn’t caught on video because the bodycam switched off when Weinman “forcibly struck” the officer in the chest.
Regalbuto said the camera turned back on in the ensuing brawl.
“You’re not allowed to beat me like that, I’m a woman,” Weinman cries after the officer punched her in the head repeatedly. “You’re not allowed to hit me or choke me like that.”
The officers then cuff Weinman and bring her over to a police car, the video shows. All the while, Weinman curses at the officers and tells them she “didn’t do anything wrong.”
At one point, Weinman cries out “that’s my daughter,” as one of her friends approaches, cradling the 18-month-old baby.
“He punched her in the face,” the friend tells the officers.
“Well, she tried to kick at us so that’s it,” the officer with the bodycam responds.
After Weinman is placed in the back of the car, the officer who threw the punches breaks down the incident to a fellow officer.
“I go to stop her for underage drinking. She says she’s 20, she wouldn’t give me her last name,” the officer recounts. “I said, ‘Hey, if you don’t give me your information you’re going to get locked up.’”
“She tried walking away from me,” he continues. “I tried grabbing her, she tried kicking at us, so I slammed her to the ground. … I hit her a couple of times and put her in cuffs.”
The incident remains under investigation, Regalbuto said, and the three officers involved have been placed on desk duty.
