Barbara Oki said she’s learning to walk all over again after being waylaid by a stroke for several months. Welcome back to Barbara who made her reappearance Sunday at the Oki’s lunch plate place at the Kukui Grove Center. Her return to the familiar chair where she sits, coincides with Oki’s now offering breakfast (the famous Oki pancakes are back!) to its menu, starting at 9 a.m. and served all day.

Marynel Valenzuela and Sha Ali Ahmad, co-founders of the Kauai Fashion Weekend, also had the place buzzing with Kauai models practicing with some of this year’s design offerings, including Vance Pascua showing that his talents go beyond the MMA squared ring. Edie Ignacio Neumiller said the KFW crew does a boot camp Friday night with the Kauai Film Academy crew starting at 7 p.m.
And more excitement is on tap from 6 tonight when Kumu Hula Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza does a preview of her annual Father’s Day (Phil Worwa of Kauai disc golf fame has Father’s Day doings, too!) hoike at the center stage…hm-m-m, good time for breakfast?
