KOKEE — Jessica Krebs is all about teaching women practical wilderness survival skills, and she’s hosting classes in Kokee this weekend thanks to friends loaning out their cabin.
Saturday and Sunday, the former Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) instructor will be teaching basic survival and fire-building skills.
“If you’re doing much in the backcountry, it’s good to have a grasp of navigational skills and being able to read the landscape,” Krebs said. “This is going to be survival basics, like how to use the compass.”
Krebs is here from Boulder, Colorado, where she usually hosts survival classes through her school, which is a satellite of the California Survival School.
She’ll also be working with keiki on wilderness therapy.
