Kudos to Greg Nelson of Maui who got up early to catch a flight from Maui to make the Countdown to the Charity Walk (yes, the BIG walk is this Saturday at the north Vidinha soccer fields starting with registration at 6:30 a.m. — are the Kauai Soccer Association games going too?) event Saturday at Kukui Grove Center.

Carol Texeira Manera came flying in from Wailua and was able to get something from the silent auction, Mark Perriello was helping Char Ravelo at the Leadership Kauai table. Char said there is still room in the “Voyaging with Leadership Kauai,” a 10-day course — May 18 to July 15 — open to people from 14 to 70 years old who get to work with a sailing canoe to learn leadership. And, yes, scholarships are available.
Bryan Wienand (congratulations on being appointed the county Department of Water manager and chief engineer!) said he was lucky he had both his Scouts BSA (yes, Kauai’s Scouts BSA District Executive Tiffany Wienand was there with Scout Michael Perry, too!) and Camp Agape shirts with him so he could help at both nonprofit tables at the countdown. Leona Perez took a break from the Kauai Independent Food Bank table to get a photo (or was it video?) of Tiffany’s presentation on Scouting.
Don’t forget to look for the Keiki Day edition of The Garden Island Thursday that benefits Parents And Children Together … Larry Rivera is going to be at Walmart, Ron Wood is taking a shift outside Jamba Juice at Kukui Grove Center (is Mark Bonilla going to have samples?), and where is Ron Wiley going to be?
