LIHUE — Hawaiian Airlines on Tuesday reported net income of $28.5 million for the first quarter of 2018, down from $33.6 million in the first quarter of 2017.
It reported operating revenue of $665 million, up nearly 10 percent from $606 million in the first quarter last year.
Operating expenses rose to nearly $630 million, up nearly 16 percent from last year’s first quarter.
The number of passengers flow climbed to 2.9 million in the first quarter, up 7 percent.
Peter Ingram, Hawaiian Airlines president and CEO, said 2018 is off to a great start.
“Despite an uptick in competitive capacity in the first quarter, we generated more revenue and carried more guests than any first quarter in our history,” he said in a press release.
