Kudos to St. Theresa School Principal Wendy Castillo (she had the connection for the pronto pups) and Duke Lang on another great carnival (the food that wasn’t used is going to flood relief, Wendy said) that wrapped up Saturday night in Kekaha (yes, there is life on the Westside, too!).

Rhoda Libre said this was the best weather Kauai has seen in a couple of weeks, and Tiffany Dodge of the Aloha Dance Studio had her dancers, including the competition team, performing some of their competition routines. Tiffany said the dancers will also be out at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life (it’s coming up Saturday at the Hanapepe Stadium soccer fields!), and the Countdown to Charity Walk on May 5 at Kukui Grove Center.
Speaking of Charity Walk, Maile Lewis of the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort said the pancake breakfast (yes, that efficient take-out is available, too) benefiting the Charity Walk is this Saturday starting at 7 a.m. And yes, the silent auction and all the in-house games and activities will be there, too!
Scott Nonaka of the Kiwanis Club (nope, they can’t do the French toast breakfast anymore) was lamenting that no one told us about the steak fry at Island School that benefits the club’s annual scholarships. Scott was shopping at the Kauai Community Market where Johnny Gordines of the Kauai County Farm Bureau was talking with Kauai Community College Chancellor Helen Cox and the Kauai Small Business Development Center’s John Latkiewicz about the need to support the farmers, some of whom lost everything, during the record-breaking rainfall.
