The mental examination for a man accused of sexually assaulting two women late last year in Koloa was extended by Judge Kathleen Watanabe on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old man, Jesse Korn of Koloa, listened without expression to the proceedings in courtroom 6 with the help of a Marshallese interpreter.
Represented by defense attorney, John Murphy, the proceedings were rescheduled for May 8 at 10 a.m. to discuss results from a panel of three examining psychiatrists.
The exam to see if Korn is fit for trial is scheduled to take place with an interpreter present at Kauai Community Correctional Center, where he is being held on $500,000 bail.
In early December, police say they responded to Kawailehua low-income housing, after receiving reports of a suspect who unlawfully entered two different units and sexually assaulted two female victims.
The suspect, reports say, fled before police could arrive. A manhunt ensued, and Korn was later arrested.
Is this guy an illegal immigrant? The only examination he really needs are the victims family, brothers, husbands the way native American Indians did in the past. Form two parallel lines and let him run between while those armed with sticks, clubs and fists gives me their best shot. If he makes it past, then he deserves a trial. That way all those pelted up frustrations and stress is relieved and now its time for justice to be served, since taxpayers will be footing his bill.
