HAENA – The Department of Water has issued a do not drink advisory and conservation notice for residents in Wainiha and Haena.
DOW has activated generators in the area allowing pump stations to begin filling the storage tank sites, until electrical power services can be restored.
As this occurs, water services may be slowly restored to customers in Wainiha and Haena, however due to weather-affected areas that remain inaccessible, DOW is not able to assess all damage or exposure to the service lines in the system, and therefore residents are advised not to drink or cook with tap water, as a precautionary measure, until further notice.
Additionally, a conservation notice has also been issued for customers that have begun to receive water from the Wainiha – Haena system.
Officials will continue to work on assessing the damages and affects to the water system in the area.
