HONOLULU — Today at 10 a.m., U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, will convene a U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing, “Hawaii False Missile Alert: What Happened and What Should We Do Next?”
The committee examined concerns surrounding the use and effectiveness of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts after a false ballistic missile threat alert was sent to Hawaii residents on Jan. 13. The hearing will focus on the failure of the Hawaii EAS and explore options to improve alerts.
The hearing will be at the East-West Center, Keoni Auditorium, in Honolulu.
