Be alert and ready to respond
Kudos to Myles Emura for taking the time to point out the potential disasters which may occur at a scenic site adjacent to the island of Kauai.
Now, let us see what kind of immediate action public officials might take? Will some one in position of power and control close the site to the public with public notices of warning posted? Might the varied components of the visitor’s industry take the time and make the effort to keep our island’s guests away from that site? Might there be effort to inform the surfing and fishing folks to keep away from that area?
Might the media pick up this information and give it its due to keep the public informed?
It would be a far, far better thing to do something, rather than to remain “silent,” hoping that nothing horrendous will occur.

Please join rally to end gun violence
I invite you to mark your calendars for this Saturday 10 a.m. to noon and come rally to end gun violence!
#MARCHFOROURLIVES!
This student led movement is asking Congress to pass long over due legislation to:
1. Ban the sale of assault weapons.
2. Prohibit the sale of high-capacity magazines.
3. Close the loophole in background check laws.
These demands in no way threaten either hunting or a citizen’s right to self-defense, but if passed will with out a doubt lessen the incidence of school shootings and other mass shootings. The movement confirms the right of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms, as set forth in the United States Constitution, but recognizes that with that right comes responsibility and demands that Congress take action to ensure public safety.
Gun violence can and will be cut by intelligent and vigorously enforced laws and we all must demand that Congress pass this long over due legislation!
The uproar following the 17 deaths at Stoneman Douglas High School has resulted in the state of Florida changing it’s gun laws. Something nobody thought was possible!
In the state of Florida, no longer can a teenager purchase a gun. No longer can a distraught person walk into a gun shop and walk out with a deadly weapon; they must now wait three days before the gun is in their hands. These are baby steps, but incredibly important baby steps. Steps that can build momentum if we ALL get behind these courageous, bright and articulate teenagers at the forefront of this movement.
Please come out and lend your voice to ending gun violence in America. We all have the right to live our lives in an environment free from the worry of guns being used against us. Children have the right to go to school in the morning with no fear. Parents have the right to drop their children off at school and know that they will see them alive at the end of the day.
See you all Saturday at Lihue Airport intersection.
