ELEELE — A change in the traffic pattern at the Mahea Road and Mehana Road intersection in ‘Ele‘ele went into effect this week.
Traffic on Mehana Road will need to stop at the new stop bar and stop sign. Traffic on Mahea Road will now have the right-of-way.
Two new crosswalks have also been installed at this intersection, and motorists are advised they must yield to pedestrians.
The changes in this intersection are designed to improve pedestrian safety, and facilitate efficient traffic flow.
The $186,050 project, which included new sidewalk improvements, was funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant.
