Visitacion Duran Botay
Visitacion Duran Botay, 93, of Eleele, passed away on Feb. 13, 2018, at Kauai Care Center in Waimea.
Born on Oct. 11, 1924, in Laoag City, Philippines, she retired as a kitchen helper at Lihue McDonald’s.
She was preceded in death by parents Guillermo Duran and Maria Basilio Duran, sisters Rosa, Petronila, Catalina and Victoria, daughter Marilyn Reyes, son Alex Labuguen, and husband Bartolome Botay.
She is survived by daughter Glenna Agtunong of Eleele, sons Danilo (Tessie) Labuguen of Philippines, Edwin Labuguen of Kauai, Larry (Florida) Labuguen of Philippines, Rolly Labuguen of Philippines, Marion (Jane) Botay of Philippines, Melcy Botay of Kauai, Bob Oliver of Kauai, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-
grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 10, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa from 8 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire.

Winifred K. Kali
Winifred K. Kali of Hanapepe passed away on March 1, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center at the age of 78.
Born in Hanapepe on June 30, 1939, she was a laborer.
She was preceded in death by father Robert Kali Sr. mother Lei Kali, sisters Rebecca Kali, Clara Kali and Lei Niau, and brothers John, Richard, Jonah and Abraham Ham-Young.
She is survived by son David Kali of Hanapepe, daughter Ashley (Cassie) Tamashiro of Honolulu, brothers Robert (Kathleen) Kali Jr. of Hilo, Benjamin Kali Sr. of Hanapepe, sister Janet Ortiz of Hanapepe, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday, March 10, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kalaheo Ward, with visitation at 9 a.m. and service at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Hanapepe Hawaiian Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Ludevico ‘Jackie’ Pigao
Ludevico “Jackie” Pigao, 81, of Eleele, passed away on Feb. 12, 2018, at his home in Eleele.
Born on Jan. 13, 1937 in Hanapepe, he was a retired lieutenant firefighter and retired from the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his soul mate JoAnne Salazar, Jiji Inosuke Tsuji, Baba Sina Tsuji, father Jose Pigao Sr., mother Alice Matsue Pigao, sister-in-law Joanne Parages Pigao, and brother-in-law MacArthur Dela Cruz.
He is survived by sons Rick (Melissa) Salazar of Washington, Raymond (Lahea) Salazar of Koloa, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brothers Jose (Rosie) Pigao of Eleele, Donald Pigao of Kekaha and Ronnie Pigao of California, sisters Rosita (Jerry) Sakamoto of Waimea, Linda Dela Cruz of Kekaha, Gail (Wayne “Buddie”) Ayudan of Kekaha, JenniFe (Rommel) Manansala of Honolulu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 21, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery from 9 to 9:45 a.m., where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Inurnment will follow.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Betsy K. Nakamasu, 95
In the comfort of her home and surrounded by love, Betsy Kazue Nakamasu, 95, passed away and went on to be with the Lord on Feb. 20, 2018.
Born on the Island of Hawaii on Dec. 4, 1922, she retired as a front office cashier at the Sheraton Kauai Resort and volunteered regularly at the New Hope Ministry Center on Oahu. She was passionate about helping others, mangos, Las Vegas and bingo.
She was preceded in death by husband Hikoji “Peacock” Nakamasu, brothers Fumiyuki Kiyota and Tadayoshi Kiyota, and sister Mildred Lopez.
She is survived by son Wayne (Lynn) Nakamasu of Oahu, daughters Lisa Nakamasu of Kauai, Dorine (Regan) Chang of Oahu, grandsons Reyn (Marisa) Nakamasu of Oregon, Jeris Nakamasu of Oahu, Galen Chang of Texas, brother Moriyuki (Patsy) Kiyota, sister Geraldine (Jacob) Nakamitsu, sisters-in-law Sadako Kiyota and Evelyn Kiyota, brother-in-law Richard Lopez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were held at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
