The Shadow knows!” Jerome Freitas, a retired state Department of Transportation worker who is now better known as Da Shadow, since 2004 has been meeting with government representatives about problems he has discovered or that have been reported to him, and reporting the county’s responses.

Are there any plans to shelter the bus stop located at the Puuhonua Kaulike Courthouse Building? If so, when will a bus shelter be erected?
At this time, there are no plans to shelter the bus stop located at the Judiciary Courthouse Building since there is an adjacent building that can provide shelter if needed. It is the county’s priority to erect bus shelters at stops with no nearby shelters.

Does Kauai have any bomb shelters in the event of a nuclear attack?
No. There are currently no designated bomb shelters in the State of Hawaii. Once the attack sirens sound, it is estimated that residents and visitors will have less than 12 to 15 minutes before missile impact. The short warning time would not allow for citizens to locate such a shelter in advance of impact. All residents and visitors must immediately seek shelter in a building or other substantial structure.
Get inside of the nearest building and stay away from outer walls, windows and roof. Stay inside for at least 48 hours, unless otherwise instructed by authorities. Stay tuned to any media available for information on when it is safe to exit shelter. Battery operated and hand-crank radios will function after a nuclear detonation.
