An ukulele circle kicks off at 6 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring ukulele or guitar and learn a Hawaiian song to add to their repertoire.
At 7 p.m., “The Sweetheart of Hawaiian Music,” as Kumukahi is affectionately known, will take the stage to perform and talk story with her group.
Kumukahi has spread aloha far and wide. It’s all part of her mission to produce, preserve, perpetuate and promote quality in traditional Hawaiian music and its performance.
A self-taught musician, she picked up her first ukulele in 1968.
A multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner, Kumukahi has her own recording label and production and performance company.
An entrepreneur, she and partners created the Hawaiian Heritage and Culture Learning Center.
