What’s up with the ocean crud?
What’s up with the ocean crud?
Have you seen the crud at the mouth of the Wailua? The crud along the ocean by Lydgate? Never seen it so bad, even when the rain has lasted longer than this past week. Anyplace in the United States that’s appeal is the beauty of the land and the weather would not allow this to happen and if it did it would be cleaned up immediately. This area looks like a (fill in the blank) hole. Why is it so much worse than prior years?

An independent Hawaii would be safe
For Hawaiians concerned about the risk of President Donald Trump and the imperialist American government provoking a nuclear war with the peaceful Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) after the hoax alert we all received on our cell phones, there is one sure fire way for the Hawaiian Islands to avoid being dragged into such a violent conflict.
If Hawaiians are serious about avoiding the horrors of nuclear war, we cannot depend on the American war mongers to do anything to protect us from that — in fact, the U.S. government is on a path to getting us all killed through the reckless actions of Trump.
The single way we can completely ensure that there will be no nuclear war in Hawaii is to demand independence and for the United States military to cease its illegal occupation that has gone on since 1893 and finally withdraw from the Hawaiian Islands.
An independent Hawaii can enter into peaceful diplomatic relations with the DPRK, build trade, and friendship between our nations. China would be glad to supply us with weapons to ensure Hawaiian self-defense, from another U.S. invasion. We must embrace socialism and put an end to capitalism, to help our own people.
Eric Hafner, Mountainview
China would more likely take control of an independent Hawaii without firing one shot.
I’m just going to come right out and say it, Eric: I think you’re nuts. I honestly thought you might have been “on” something after you referred to North Korea as a “peaceful democratic republic.”
To digress from your vacuous independent Hawaii argument, here’s what you said in a 2016 Maui Time interview: “We should legalize all drugs to stop gun violence and allow open carry of firearms nationally.”
Have you even bothered to do any research on these subjects? Well I did and this is what the non-partisan National Bureau of Economic Research concluded:
“Ten years after the adoption of ‘right-to-carry’ (RTC) laws, violent crime is estimated to be 13 percent to 15 percent HIGHER than it would have been without the RTC law. There is not even the slightest hint in the data that these laws reduce violent crime.”
Good luck trying to unseat Representative Gabbard.
Eric Hafner, like Obama, lives in La La Land. Skippidy doo da, skippidy yah!
“the peaceful Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea)”
I really need the 3 minutes of my life back after reading this ridiculousness.
BTW, it has been 7 generations since the “occupation”. Who cares? Does it effect anyone in 2018? Stop playing the victim. How would Hawaii be better without the financial support of the United States of America? Tourism would still exist as the ONLY industry and everyone would complain about the tourists while smiling as they throw their money at the residents.
While I agree with the comments made about Hafner’s letter, I also agree with him when he speaks of an Imperialist America trying to provoke war with North Korea. I have no doubt Trump would authorize the use of Nuclear Weapons on a “shoot first” basis, thereby threatening global conflagration.
Did anyone notice that Trump’s daughter-in-law received white power in the mail? I would not be at all surprised to find that Trump had ordered it to be sent. It is yet another fraud he is using to scare America into supporting an even greater expansion of the US military. America has troops everywhere now. The idea that they are protecting us from ISIS is simply preposterous. They are there to steal the resources that should belong to the people who live in those countries.
The name of North Korea is officially the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea so it seems pretty sane to call it that unless you’re an idiot who doesn’t know that, and as far as peaceful how many countries has North Korea invaded vs. the United States? North Korea hasn’t invaded any other country. Good ideas, Eric, keep the money in Hawaii and help the people here instead of America.
Yea, just South Korea off the top of my head……only killed 3,000,000 civilians and military during the war. Very peaceful. Happened soooooo long ago, ……roughly 75 years ago. Nothing to worry about.
