Harvey Maeda of Kauai Classic Cars said when he got up, Saturday, he saw the weather and thought the car show at The Shops at Kukuiula would be canceled because of all the rain and threatening weather.
But the show went on as scheduled with a fewer number of vehicles showing up because of the rain.
“A lot of the Eastside drivers didn’t get here,” Maeda said. “We have a lot of people from the Westside because it must not have rained that much.”
A steady stream of people flowed among the classic cars that ranged from a 1932 Ford to more contemporary Pony cars like the Camaros and Mustangs of the 1960s vintage.
“That’s a cab-over from 1948 to 1952,” said David Graham, a visiting California auto enthusiast. “We used to make a lot of parts for them. I have several cars, but the only one I have here is a WWII vintage Jeep. I didn’t want to drive it all the way from Princeville.”
Graham said he’ll check out the auto show scheduled for Saturday at the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Mana from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
