Mac Duldulao Layaoen
Mac Duldulao Layaoen of Puyallup, Washington, passed away on Jan. 15, 2018, at Samaritan Hospital at the age of 50. He was born on March 21, 1967, in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii. He was an MRJ instrumentation engineer with AeroTEC Company.
He was preceded in death by father-in-law, Kazu Nicholas Hulu Taniguchi, Jr., and mother-in-law, Aurelia “Rae” Miguel Taniguchi.
He is survived by parents, Mac and Dely Layaoen; wife, Shalamae Layaoen; daughters, Sierra Lani Layaoen, Sharlyssa Lei’ala Layaoen; sons, Mac Kainoa Nicholas (Jayme) Layaoen, Micah Keanu Nicholas (Stephanie) Layaoen; brother, Jeffrey Duldulao (Lokelani Kenolio) Layaoen; sisters, Adele Layaoen (Shawn) Marlin, Donna Layaoen (Cory) Yamaguchi; grandchildren, Adi Lynn Layaoen, Mac Alika Nicholas Layaoen, Keoni Lee Nicholas Layaoen; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit/view with the family on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Kauai Veterans Cemetery, Hanapepe, with lunch for friends at St. Raphael’s Church after the burial.

Raymond Kaipo Napoleon
Raymond Kaipo Napoleon, 66, of Anahola, Kauai, passed away on Jan. 2, 2018, at Samuel Mahelona Hospital. He was born on Dec. 6, 1951, in Lihue, Kauai. He was a retired breakfast cook and also served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Napoleon and Molly Kiyabi; brother, Jason Napoleon; son, Raymond Napoleon.
He is survived by his wife, Lovelan “Lovey” N. Napoleon of Anahola; daughters, Jaclyn (Kalai) Kaina of Puhi, Tia Keiki Napoleon of Anahola; god-daughter, Rosanna Keale; grandchildren, Brooke, Kodie-Ray, Alexis, Eligahi, Naomi, Makakoa, Kehau, Kawai, Eli; sisters, Cathay (Nobu) Matsuyoshi of Hanamaulu, Starley (Jarrett) Medeiros of Wailua; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Anahola Beach Park Hawaiian Home side from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. where celebration of life will be at 11:30 a.m.
Casual attire suggested.

The celebration of life for Mark Ishiki will be held at the Veteran’s Center in Lihue on Friday, Feb. 2, at 5 p.m.
Fibrium Abreu
Fibrium Abreu, 84, of Hanapepe, Kauai, passed away on Dec. 28, 2017, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1933, in New Mill, Eleele, Kauai.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emalia Cornwell Abreu; son, Shannon P. Abreu; daughter, Melissa N. Abreu; parents, Benito and Benedicta Abreu; brothers, Diosdado, Ulderico, Evillo, Abreu; sister, Anita Rehbach.
He is survived by his daughter; Soncy (Nelson) Tamashiro of Kapaa; grandchildren, Zoe Abreu, Alexa Noe Tamashiro, Mandy Abreu, Alana Kawehi Tamashiro; great-grandchild, Kyleigh-Ann Labanon; brothers, Juvino (Carol) Abreu of Waimea, Andres (Marsha) Abreu of Kekaha; sisters, Rosita Santiago of Kekaha, Conchita (Warren) Fossum of Montana; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Violet C. Koerte
Violet C. Koerte of Hanamaulu passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 20, 2018, at the age of 91. She was born in Hanamaulu on May 3, 1926, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Koerte Sr.; son-in-law, Hanzs K. Martins and daughter-in-law, Linda Mae Koerte.
Violet is survived by sons, John (Judyann) Koerte Jr., Michael G. Koerte, Gerard W. (Avis) Koerte, Anthony M. (Doreen) Koerte; daughters, Bernadine K. Martins, Regina K. (Sidney) Ikehara; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Adam “Wally” (Carnation) Carvalho; numerous nieces and nephews.
Casual or aloha attire is suggested, and the family graciously declines flowers.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Elsie Tokuko Ishida
Elsie Tokuko Ishida, 81, of Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on Jan. 24, 2018, at her home in Kapaa, Kauai.
Born on Oct. 31, 1936, in Kauai, she was a retired teacher with Kilauea Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Ishida, brothers Albert and Paul Fujii, and granddaughter Holly Oyama.
She is survived by her son David (Ruby) Ishida of Kapaa; three daughters, Doreen (Anthony) Koerte of Hanamaulu, Lynn (James) Oyama of Kapaa, and Pamela (Edgar Castro) Ishida of Pearl City; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Marumoto of Aiea, Mazie Fujinaka of Kapaa, and Elaine (Ernest) Yamanoha; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Kapaa Hongwanji from 10 a.m. Services will be at 11 a.m.
