Richard Shigeo Iwamoto
Richard Shigeo Iwamoto of Kalaheo died at home on Dec. 17, 2017, at the age of 85. He was born in Lihue on July 22, 1932, and retired from PMRF as an engineer.
He was preceded in death by parents Tsunaiichi and Haru Iwamoto, brothers Tetsuo, Haruo, Satoru and Hiroshi Iwamoto, and sisters Yoshiko Hadama, Fumiyo Horie, Alice Tadai and Harriet Kimura.
He is survived by wife Doris Iwamoto, brothers John (Asako) Iwamoto and Henry (Sachie) Iwamoto, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Federico ‘Fred’ Ramelb
Federico “Fred” Ramelb of Kapaa passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Dec. 26, 2017, at the age of 70. He was born in Lihue on Feb. 20, 1947. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the County of Kauai beautification section.
He was preceded in death by parents Rosendo and Isabella Ramelb, and nephew Matthew Divina.
He is survived by wife Jewel Lynn Morita Ramelb, son Christopher Paul Rikio Ramelb, brothers Aurelio Ramelb and Patricio (Dorrine) Ramelb, sisters Felicidad (Anthony) Divina and Angelita (Irvin) Green, and numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, at St. Catherine Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.

Crispina Melchor Gauiran
Crispina Melchor Gauiran, 92, of Koloa, passed away on Dec. 28, 2017, at her home.
Born on Dec. 5, 1925, in Talingaan, Laoag City, Philippines, she was a retired seamstress.
She was preceded in death by husband Lauriano Gauiran, parents Clemente and Juana Melchor, and brothers Crisogono, Arternio and Manuel Melchor.
She is survived by her adopted daughter Ofelia (Teofilo) Serrano of Puhi, adopted son Edgar (Norma) Gauiran of Honolulu, grandchildren Kylie Rose, Jordan and Jayson Serrano, Jared and Joshua Gauiran, brothers Anacleto (Soledad) Melchor of Koloa, Ben (Amie) Melchor of Koloa, Geronimo (Carrie) Melchor of Pearl City, sisters Rosa Melchor of Koloa, Florita Asuncion of Koloa, sisters-in-law Emilia Melchor of Omao, Rose Melchor of Omao and Flora Melchor of Koloa, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Jan. 26, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Raphael Church Cemetery.

Reinaldo Alonzo Aurelio, 66, of Lihue, passed away on Dec. 26, 2017, at Straub Hospital on Oahu.
Born on Nov. 14, 1951 in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired school van driver.
He is survived by wife Lucrecia Cubangbang Aurelio of Lihue, brothers Nestor (Lita) Aurelio of the Philippines, Fernando Aurelio of Philippines, Oscar (Brenda) Aurelio of Philippines and Tony (Josie) Aurelio of Lihue, sisters Lita Marcos of Honolulu, Vina Aurelio of California and Anabel Aurelio of the Philippines, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Jan. 26, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 p.m., and again on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Burial will to follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.

Edward Osmenia Pascua, 77, of Lihue, passed away on Dec. 17, 2017, in Lihue.
Born on Dec. 6, 1940 in Lihue, he was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by wife Joyce Pascua, son Randall Pascua, parents Toribio and Hilaria Pascua, brothers Raymond and Ruodolfo Pascua, and sister Delfenia Pascua Borales.
He is survived by sons Darall Pascua of Lihue, Edward (Lisa) Pascua of Hanamaulu and Wesley (Stacey) Pascua of Wailua, daughters Abigail (Frank) Wright of Puhi and Vanessa Pascua of Lihue, grandchildren Keanu Pascua, Preston Pascua, Pono Pascua, Kamalei Pascua, Austin Wright, Kaimana Wright, Kalen Nakaahiki, Kasen Sotelo and Blaise Pascua, great-grandchild Mason Pascua, brother Manuel Pascua of Wailua, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eleanore Barbara Smith
Eleanore Barbara Smith of Sun Village passed away on Dec. 27, 2017, at the age of 99. She was born in New Jersey on Oct. 9, 1918, and retired as a secretary from Somerset Trust Company in Somerville, New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by parents Fredrick and Margaret Smith, and sister Marjorie L. Reed.
She is survived by niece Lynn Pizzullo of Anahola.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 18, at St. Catherine Church in Kapahi, with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow.

Chauncey W. Pa, 82, of Kalihiwai, passed away on Jan. 3, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 10, 1935, in Hawaii, he was a Realtor and with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by daughter Kimberley (Chad Pacheco) Pa, sons Chauncey (Lisa) Pa and Chadry (Madison Strecker) Pa, ex-wife Christine Pa, four grandsons, two granddaughters, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at 3077 Kalihiwai Rd., the family’s residence, for a celebration of life.

Dexter Kaido Yamamoto, 74, passed away on Jan. 7, 2018, in Waimea.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1943, in Koloa.
He was preceded in death by wife Charlene S.K. Yamamoto, parents Hiroshi and Kimiko Yamamoto, and brothers Kenneth Yamamoto and Wayne Yamamoto.
He is survived by daughter Dayla (Palani) Camacho of Kekaha, grandchildren Shelbri Ann Cosier and Charli Camacho, brothers Milton Yamamoto of Koloa and Melvin (Elaine) Yamamoto of Kalaheo, brothers-in-law Thomas (Alice) Baptista of Waimea, Benjiman Nakaahiki Jr. of Kekaha, Brenn (Eileen) Nakaahiki of Kekaha and Joseph (Nani) Nakaahiki of Kekaha, sisters-in-law Pili Iwai of Waimea, Kuulei (Burt) Vidinha of Kekaha, Trudi (Lee) Contrades of Kekaha, Elena (Todd) Yamase of Eleele and Oriente Nakaahiki of Eleele, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria Leanor Banach Kapuy
It is with great sadness that the family of Maria Leanor Banach Kapuy announces her passing on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the age of 90.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, Julio Kapuy, along with her children Edward Paul (Gina) Banach Jr., Catherine Eleanor (Donald) Patterson, James Anthony (Kelly) Banach, Albert Bruce Banach and Steven Buster (Lori) Banach.
She was preceded in death by son Edward (Butch) Paul Banach Jr.
She will be fondly remembered by her 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, brothers Sonny, Enrique and Malcolm, and sisters Rene, Shirley, Diana and Dalis.
A funeral service will be held at St. Catherine Church, 5021 Kawaihau Rd., Kapaa, on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 9 a.m.
