LIHUE — Kauai junior varsity girls’ Noe Kaya had a hat trick to lead the JV Red Raiders to a 15-0 win over Waimea on Thursday night at the Vidinha Stadium.
LIHUE — Kauai junior varsity girls’ Noe Kaya had a hat trick to lead the JV Red Raiders to a 15-0 win over Waimea on Thursday night at the Vidinha Stadium.
On the boys’ field, Waimea’s Chaisen Ragragola scored two goals — on in the fifth minute, and the other in the final minute of play — to prevent a shutout in the Menehune’s 3-2 loss to the JV Raider boys.
Ragragola put Waimea on the board early with his score in the fifth minute. The score was not answered until Connor Mackenzie found the net in the 21st minute. Quilan Valdez hit the goal in the 33rd minute to give Kauai a 2-1 lead at the break.
Daniel Leonard found the net in the 40th minute before Ragragola’s final goal.
On the girls’ side, Kaylee Alapai found the net in the first three minutes, getting help from Audrey Yukimura who upped the margin to 2-0 in the fifth minute. Jessica Hreljac added two more goals, and Tia Fulks nailed a goal in the 22nd minute before Kaya unrolled her hat trick with goals in the 22nd, 25th, and 35th minutes to give the JV Raider girls an 8-0 lead at the half.
Jenna Takeuchi started the second half flurry of seven goals in the first minute out of the break and got help from Mallory Mendez in the 43rd minute. Kamalu Potts found the goal in the 48th minute for the mid-period activity.
Cassidy Yamauchi found the net in the 60th minute to end the late-game activity as Macy Melchor followed with a goal in the 62nd minute and T. Kelley Albarado-
Planas iced the win in the 65th minute.
The Waimea JV girls next host the Kapaa JV on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the Hanapepe Stadium followed by the Waimea JV boys taking on the Warriors at 11:45 a.m. The Menehune varsity girls take on the Warriors at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Waimea boys hosting Kapaa boys at 3:30 p.m.
