PUHI — Kauai Community College Chancellor Helen Cox said the place was buzzing Monday when the college opened its doors to the spring semester for 1,219 students, an increase of 9.5 percent over the 1,085 students for the same time last year.
Students came from all over, including several Running Start students who enroll in college courses to get a jump start on their college paths as well as students who just enjoy learning and continue in courses.
Cox said a new program with the Kauai Chamber of Commerce where courses are developed with the help of chamber members will have a portion of the course fees going back to benefit the chamber will help boost student enrollment even more.
The opening also marks the resumption of food service at the cafeteria with the fine dining program scheduled to start, shortly.
