HANAMAULU – Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run crash Thursday morning in Hanamaulu.
The victim, a 12-year-old girl, was medevaced to Queen’s Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Police were called to the scene about 7 a.m. after receiving a report of a child injured along Laukona Street, just south of the Ho‘ohana Street junction, in Hanamaulu.
According to a preliminary investigation, the child appears to have been walking along Laukona Street when she was struck by a vehicle. The involved vehicle was not at the scene when police arrived.
A portion of Laukona Street was closed for about three hours, while police investigated the scene.
No arrests have been made.
