Kudos to Lenny Rapozo and his county Department of Parks &Recreation ohana on doing a great job with the improvements at Vidinha Stadium baseball field! The opening of the Kauai Americans of Japanese Ancestry baseball league’s 88th season was a great opportunity to see the improvements up close (yes, the audio worked fine, Gerald Ako), and even Ichiro Chiba could go check out the huge press box…only thing missing was the Japanese music he used to play between the games.

Mahalo to Sandy Poenhelt of The Rock Group on the heads-up on the gathering of rock fans (there’re more than a thousand of them, including a lot of familiar people, on the Facebook page!!!), and now, the task is trying to find a place to hide some of the Gemma Souza creations …Kristen Collins is looking for a “Belle” rock … Yukie DeSilva found one and re-hid it somewhere in the mountains … and yes, they’re friendly because the rocks come from the bag at The Home Depot (doesn’t Ace Hardware have them, too?)…OK, time for a slice of pie.
Mark your calendars for the Keiki Fest Saturday that is a fundraiser for Mary Lardizabal and the Kapaa Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band (how many times have they won at the Heritage Music Festival?)…should be a lot of fun with all those keiki performers from all over the island, and the food trucks and crafters … Doors open at noon until the sun goes down at the Kauai Veterans Center.
